Our Grand Tour One is a meandering journey through the Mornington Peninsula that takes you through the hinterland to the rugged south west with a main break at the Peninsula Hot Springs where you will leave feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to soak up some iconic roads and fresh experiences as you journey homeward.

There’s a wonderland in Langwarrin (just outside Frankston) that’s larger than life - with over 100 sculptures, 16 hectares of native bushland and landscaped gardens, art gallery and licensed café and to top it off… it’s free. Some of you will know it as McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery – a truly a world class experience where so much incredible art is blended with nature. We love it here because you’re encouraged to walk the grounds and as you do so you stumble across incredible works of art and nature.
If you’re wondering where we go to enjoy some of the finest food, artistic sculptures and uninterrupted views on the Mornington Peninsula it’s Pt. Leo Estate. With three dining choices including Laura (a more refined dining experience offering a set menu that tells a local seasonal harvest story), Pt. Leo Restaurant (a modern restaurant with a large wood fired oven that is the heart of its food offering) and the Wine Terrace (the simple things like a glass of wine and charcuterie plate is all that matters).
From amazing views to farm-gates, general stores, cellar doors and exhilarating country roads – these things are synonymous with the Peninsula. This tour gives you a chance to enjoy the ride, taste some things along the way, and stretch your legs all within a few hours.
It’s a good thing the name reminds you where you are because once you settle in at Lindenderry at Red Hill you may well lose yourself in this picturesque, European-style luxury estate.
The opening event of the Winter Wine Weekend is the Winter Wine Fest held at the Red Hill Showgrounds. One place on one day all under cover where you can taste around 200 premium wines from around 50 wineries matched by a special menu from local chefs. Each ticket includes a Riedel wine glass, all wine tastings and two entree sized dishes.
Explore the contemporary art collection at Yabby Lake Vineyard, on a special behind-the-scenes Art and Winery Tour led by Paul Barfoot, curator of the collection. Drawing on a range of mediums, from large-scale sculpture to photographic works, ceramics, paintings and new media, the tour will conclude with a convivial wine tasting and discussion with Paul and the Yabby Lake team. Places are strictly limited and prior bookings essential.
Set on the site of Willow Creek Vineyard, Jackalope is a contemporary, cutting edge hotel that is already an award winner (Gourmet Traveller recently named Jackalope as Hotel of the Year, New Hotel of the Year and Regional Hotel of the Year). Not a bad achievement considering the property only opened its doors in April this year.
Kate Donnelly has been working full-time as a photographer since 2002. You might know her better through lovethepen.com.au or through her recently published book SEASONS that takes you through a decade of her personal experiences and reflections on the Mornington Peninsula.
