Their work affirms their powerful connection to their lands, waters and ancestors. The exhibition highlights the three vital and contemporary multidisciplinary practices and references the movement in the passages of water along the eastern coast of Australia connecting land and people of the Torres Strait in the far north to Tasmania in the south.
Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery will welcome enthusiastic art lovers for the prestigious and popular Archibald Prize 2023 with an extraordinary display of 57 portraits, featuring figures and cultural identities from all walks of life, reflecting the stories of our times.
Back in the days before impersonal supermarkets and oversized shopping centres, the humble general store was a community hub, a place that served an important social, as well as supply, service. In 1924, Merricks General Wine Store opened to serve a variety of needs of the local community. Built in a prime location on Hastings-Flinders Road, between Balnarring and Shoreham, it was a central point where locals could stock up on household items as well post mail, make phone calls at the phone booth, do banking and fill the petrol tank – a one-stop shop with friendly, familiar faces.
Girt by Sea is an exhibition of new seascape paintings by Mornington Peninsula based artist Neil Williams. The idea behind these works began in May 2021 when Williams was an artist in residence at the Police Point Artist in Residence program.
