The Red Hill Kitchen

Towards the end of an inconspicuous unsealed road in Red Hill there is a kitchen in a quaint weatherboard house surrounded by a prolific vegetable garden, where Bernie Furness creates some of the most delicious take home food available. The Red Hill Kitchen is something of a closely held secret to locals, who make up about ninety per cent of the business. So renowned is it in these parts though, that after being closed for six months a couple of years ago, when they reopened word spread quickly and business resumed as if they’d never closed.

The Acorn

The Acorn is a soaring vision from the moment you enter the double glazed doors with vaulted ceilings and a state-of-the-art fireplace at its core. There's a ground-floor bedroom and open plan living zone that's peppered with beautiful furnishings; a second bedroom is up on a mezzanine level.

Jackalope

Set on the site of Willow Creek Vineyard, Jackalope is a contemporary, cutting edge hotel that is already an award winner (Gourmet Traveller recently named Jackalope as Hotel of the Year, New Hotel of the Year and Regional Hotel of the Year). Not a bad achievement considering the property only opened its doors in April this year.

Flinders Shed

Flinders in the past 12 months has undergone a renaissance with the addition of galleries, restaurants, cafes and bars but a standout over the years has been Flinders Shed. Head here if you wish to check out this cool shop that stocks contemporary and avant-garde brands. Inconspicuously tucked between two art galleries, this family-owned boutique - run by mother and daughter team Chris and Nat Lawrance, Flinders Shed has created something of a cult following as the boutique is known for showcasing independent designers and is widely considered a haven for those seeking hard-to-find labels.

Alatonero

A long-term love affair with Santorini, and a passion for Greek food, has brought a new culinary vibe to the Mornington Peninsula. Across the road from the McCrae lighthouse (at what was The Pavilion), Alatonero is giving diners the opportunity to enjoy well known and much loved Greek delicacies. With an impressive resume in the food world, and with energy and drive to burn, Jacqui Poulier found the perfect location for her new venture, where she has brought to life her love of food, cooking, people and stories. The restaurant is light, bright, open and airy with a fresh sea breeze that drifts through the open plan dining area.

MP Skin Check

It's not a stretch to say that we're all familiar with the "slip, slop, slap" message; however, new research says the risk of skin damage under the sun's rays must be taken more seriously. In a world-first study, researchers from the ANU and NZIWAR found that, on average, regions like the Mornington Peninsula and cities like Melbourne only experienced two days a year where there wasn't enough UV to get sun damage. Two days! They found that even if the UV index is low and if you're outside for more than 15 minutes... you're at risk. Making sure you prioritise a skin check is just as important as a health check.

Little Alpaca

Trudy Baker's 'Little Alpaca' boutique is almost as endearing as the collections of wonderfully soft luxury fibres she stocks. To us, it's a one-stop natural fibre destination. It's the kind of store that specialises in original products with traditional craftsmanship designed by true creatives, and that's what makes it tick. Trudy stocks elegant, hand crafted women's & men's fashions. All products are made with the highest of standards. The fibres in the shop are always soft and easily worn against the skin, and you will find alpaca, merino, possum, cashmere, mohair, silk, cotton, and linen.
