It’s not often you walk into a store and are taken on an imaginary journey to somewhere else but La Brocante has the knack to do this easily. This new Red Hill South store, relocated from Northcote by owners Penny Attiwill and Matt Learmonth, certainly inspires passion for design, travel, collecting and decor with its fusion of all things eclectic, vintage, upcycled or simply curious from Europe and beyond.

The name comes from the French word ‘brocante’ (pronounced bro-cont) meaning a cross between an antique fair and a flea market and La Brocante positively hums with atmosphere and style. Most of its stock is hand-picked by the owners on buying trips to Europe and each piece has a story behind it. Complementing this collection of vintage furniture and other wares is La Brocante’s beautiful in-house designed greeting cards, wrapping papers and reproduced vintage posters on both paper and canvas.
