John Hockney has written a book about the Hockney clan, titled ‘The Hockneys: Never Worry What the Neighbours Think’.
John is the youngest of five Hockney siblings. Two of the brothers moved to Australia, Philip in 1961 and John followed in 1968 and became a writer and musician. Sister Margaret is a former nurse and Paul, who passed away in 2018, was a former Lord Mayor of Bradford. David Hockney went on to become one of the world’s most famous artists.
John Hockney says ‘I have always been proud of my older siblings and felt the stories of individual determination to succeed and be themselves should be told. From inspiring parents, and my father’s philosophical comment, we each pursued life paths that vary.’
