For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Alpaca – they’re very intelligent, inquisitive animals that relate well to people so can make excellent pets. There are two types of alpaca in Australia – Suri & Huacaya and Pitchingga Ridge has both – mainly blacks, greys & whites, also some browns. Alpacas are shorn once a year, usually in October.

The luxurious  fleece has rare qualities of softness & silkiness, is lightweight & provides durable thermal attributes. It is sought after by many global fashion houses to make their premium natural  fibre garments. Since 1995, Pitchingga Ridge Alpacas has been the living dream of Jean & David Daddo with their 100 or so alpacas and kelpies, Abbie and Sam.
