What is it about pioneers?

Matthew Flinders and George Bass, two young men from Lincolnshire who had arrived in Sydney in 1795, were determined to achieve greatness. Flinders wanted to be an explorer ‘like Cook’, Bass a naturalist, like Sir Joseph Banks, and a wealthy Sydney trader. For eight years, these two pursued their destiny. Their voyages changed the map of our country. Particularly pertinent is that Flinders placed on his map of this continent the name Australia - the first time the term of our nation appeared. 

Flamenco at Tio Tapas

Flamenco originated in Andalusia, Southern Spain. It is a gypsy art form made up of three parts;  Song "Cante" , Guitar  "Guitarra" and Dance "Baile". It’s influenced by many world cultures, including Gypsy, Indian, Moorish, Jewish, Celtic, Arabic, African, Latin American and traditional Spanish folkloric dance and music. It has also received modern influences from all styles of dance and music including contemporary, jazz and classical.

In exciting news, the Winter Wine Weekend is back in 2022, starting on Saturday 11 June at Red Hill Reserve, so come and embrace the comforts of winter and wrap yourself in a festival of wine. Explore the wines from 40 Mornington Peninsula wineries exhibiting over 150 premium wines in one place at one time, highlighting the incredible diversity in wine resulting from the climate and terroir unique to the region.

Red Hill Show

Celebrating its 94th year, the Red Hill Show is still one of the most popular family events on the Mornington Peninsula calendar. Thousands of people will head up to the Red Hill Showgrounds on Saturday 12 March to be part of this wonderful community celebration of agriculture, heritage, cooking, crafts and entertainment. The showgrounds will be transformed into one colourful, appetising, entertaining spectacle for the whole family.

Peninsula Piers & Pinots

Showcasing maritime cool-climate pinot noirs and pinot gris, Peninsula Piers & Pinot gather by the sea annually on the March Labour Day weekend, where more than 60 wines are on taste with a selection of local food to purchase and live music add to the festive vibe.
