Did you know that our dolphins share their precious home with over 4 million people who live around Port Phillip and Western Port? Did you know that there is a Mornington Peninsula based organisation that is a leading provider of research (major health studies of our bays’ dolphins), champions education (to value dolphins and reduce pollution flowing into our bays), and provides much needed leadership (working with governments for constructive and sustainable actions)?

The Dolphin Research Institute (DRI) was formed in 1991 by people who were concerned about our dolphins and bays. Since then it has provided solutions to all of the above and continues its great work out of their research and education  centre in Hastings.  Their award-winning ‘i sea, i care’ School Ambassador Program – a key part of working for the future – has helped over 4,000 marine ambassadors have learnt about the impacts we all have on our bays including how population growth combined with climate change are becoming the major threat to our marine life in our two precious bays. Dolphin Research Institute is a non-government organisation and a registered charity. DRI relies on community support.   We can help by donating to the Adopt-A-Dolphin campaign or by asking our schools to enquire about the ‘i sea, i care’ Ambassador Program.
