Samantha Menzies is a Mornington Peninsula artist who, alongside her personal art practice, works within the community facilitating a range of art groups. Recent projects include work with local Koorie kids, adults and youth with special needs and within local schools. She is constantly inspired and challenged by her “day job” and it permits a lovely balance between personal and professional satisfaction.
Sam finds inspiration amongst the diversity of the local landscape and environment and loves that she can find escape amongst a community with rich social, environmental and indigenous history. She is concerned with exploring the connection between traditional art processes and the passing on of stories through a range of mediums and techniques. Paper and plant fibres, woven and ceramic works currently dominate her studio time. The process is as important a part of her practice as the end product.
